This looks like a great unit for general use . . . but you didn't say anything about noise level. I am looking for a RAID-capable enclosure as close to SILENT as possible -- I plan to use very quiet drives in it. Care to say how this one measures up?

Welcome to the forums!

It isn't silent since it has a fan on the unit to keep it cool. There is a slight whooshing sound coming from the unit, but the drives I'm using are pretty loud as well.

It doesn't seem to difficult. It looks like the rubber feet are hiding screws to get to the guts of the unit. But, I'd be weary of changing the fan if it cools less. Cooling is VERY important for a unit like this.
