»Microsoft: Please Use Vista Now

You can imagine the unhappy face of Microsoft when the adoption of Vista is slow. They want more people to start using it. I have a free suggestion... »Get Ubuntu.

Microsoft has launched a "fact rich" program to help customers understand why they should "proceed with confidence" in rolling out Vista across all their PCs. "Some customers may be waiting to adopt Windows Vista because they've heard rumors about device or application compatibility issues, or because they think they should wait for a service pack release," the company said in a newsletter. "To help partners and customers get the real story, Microsoft has created a comprehensive set of fact-rich materials illustrating how Windows Vista is ready today and tomorrow."

Vista may be "ready today and tomorrow" according to Microsoft. Of course they're going to tell you that! They have a vested interest in selling the product! Sorry. I don't like the new and improved programs every couple of years. There's just TOO much cost involved with upgrading.

I read fat-rich over and over again (which makes more honest sense)

Regardless, I find it hard to believe anyone who did much testing or research would readily believe that switching would be a good idea. My limited experience of putting Vista onto other computers has resulted pretty consisitently with some form of castration or another (I remain intact, fortunately). Hearing all the security effort put into the system, I told a dozen people to upgrade soon. I've done three upgrades and wondered if that was a good idea.

An integrated firewall that doesn't play nice with others, a media player that won't directly access removable media, network managment that doesn't even bother with the default settings when it can mix match the "most magical connection ever!"

Crack addicts have done better at fixing windows systems than me...ripping it apart and selling the components....that's the best way, there.
