I agree that organizations need to start using encryption on laptops when customer's data is kept on them. <a href="http://news.com.com/2010-1029_3-6192001.html">It is rediculous to assume that just because the laptop is with someone, the data is safe</a>. Stuff gets stolen!

With all of the options available for laptop security, there's no excuse. Companies are either too cheap to implement it, or their IT departments are too lazy to handle it. I would terminate my relationship immediately, no question.

I'd terminate my relationship with them, as well. Personally, I don't feel that customer's personal information should be stored on a laptop. There are just too many cases of them being tampered with, or the laptop ending up lost or something. Too risky.

I would most definently terminate the relationship. That being said I have to agree that I just wouldn't be putting any personal information on my laptop just in case I did misplace it. You just never know whose hands it could end up in.

Mama,
I agree and can't understand why this is allowed. Yes, people need to be able to have access to thif if they are working at home...so store it on a secure server and make them log into it to access the data...no storing allowed!
