»Possible Earth-Like Planet Found

A planet that has the mass of about 5 Earths was found in the habitable zone of a red dwarf. More observations are needed to find out more about this planet. There is a possibility of liquid water on the surface. This would be a huge discovery.

Quote

"We have estimated that the mean temperature of this super-Earth lies between 0 and 40 degrees Celsius, and water would thus be liquid," explains Stéphane Udry, from the Geneva Observatory (Switzerland) and lead-author of the paper reporting the result. "Moreover, its radius should be only 1.5 times the Earth's radius, and models predict that the planet should be either rocky - like our Earth - or fully covered with oceans," he adds.

That's quite interesting. the planet is quite close though. Takes a lot less time then even mercury.

I seen this on the news this morning. This is very interesting. Curious to see how it all pans out. Is the closest thing to earth that has been found so far that I am aware of.

It is only 5 times our earth's mass. That is very small to see a wobble from a star. That's why we haven't seen it.

2014 is going to be a good year. More content, more streamlining. Be a part of history!

This is really cool. It would be really interesting if people would live there one day! BTW, I heard that in a few hundred years people want to go to Mars to live there.

What if this new planet is full of aliens, and that's where they come from!
