Looks like the older non-expansion players are in for a hard time. <a href="http://news.com.com/2100-1043_3-6155592.html">It seems that Blizzard will be shunning them in the new future</a>.

But while players seem largely satisfied with BC, as it's known, some also worry that the millions of people still playing the original game, especially those at the highest levels, are left with a somewhat barren version of the adventure they're used to. "Blizzard deliberately killed their (original) game," said Katrina Glerum, a veteran WoW player who, like thousands of others, stood in line for hours to be among the first to purchase the expansion. The original game "is dead," she said. "Most of the work Blizzard did for the past two years building interesting content to keep (players of the original game) amused is dead." World of Warcraft launched in 2004. Players in the U.S. pay $15 a month to play, and that has brought hundreds of millions of dollars into Blizzard's coffers.

No kidding they killed their orig game, one of the main reasons i quit. But isnt that what all expansions to MMo's do? However the WoW expansion almost completely changed the game, some think its good some think its bad but honestly the game is almost completely redone since 2004 except for the lore/race's. IMO i hate it now and think its boring and they made pvp more into a card game then anything

Warrior<rogue
mage>warrior
Warlock>mage
shadowpriest>melee

of course it changes slightly dependant on skill level but if two level 60's a say a very skilled warrior vs a very skilled rogue with equal gear rogue will win everytime, and its like that with all class's in the game now. It sure as hell didnt use to be. Thats just my take on it.

I guess I don't see the issue. What would the point of the expansion be if the level cap was still 60, or tier 3 gear could carry you through easily?

I disagree that PVP is simply a matter of class. Skill is, and always has been, the biggest contributor; teamwork is additionally just as important.

Skill is vital, of course. But typically certain classes do better in PvP and are more desirable to have on your team than others. If two players have the same level of skill and one is a certain class, they're more likely to win over the 'weaker' or less well-rounded classes.

I don't really see the issue, either. However, that might just be because I usually play on my own anyway.

Huh? Signature? What's going on with that signature?

I played hardcore for 2 years :/ the expansion just made me quit a long with RL stuff but i dunno. Generally in group pvp Priest+warrior was always the best way to go maybe well or Paladin+warrior if you're e-z mode allaince Razz

The expansion got me back into playing the game, and frankly without a new and interest 1-20 area I doubt I would have ever convinced my wife to play. They'll prolly give BC away at some point, but I don't think a MAJOR expansion every 2-3 years is anywhere near as bad as an expansion every 6 months which does very little except give you more areas (FFXI, EQ, etc).

The new pvp system kinda screwed the game for me as well :/ it made "casuals" at the same gear level as the people that invested 30 hours+into raiding a week except for the naxx gear of course but still : /

There's a big debate about casual vs. hardcore. It's difficult to say because on one hand you have the hardcore gamers, who invest hours and hours into building their character and should rightly get the benefit of that work. However, on the other you have casual gamers who probably simply don't have the time due to work or school and simply because they don't have the time, since they pay the exact same money to play the game, it's hardly fair to penalize them for having to eat. It's a difficult balance. At the moment, I think Blizzard is leaning toward the casual gamers because it gives them more business and, on average, they are not burdening the servers as much as hardcore gamers.

Yeah but it just kinda fucked the hardcore guilds over at the time. And i honestly only played the game for the fact that i had nothing else to do and after a while i out geared every other warrior on the server. Oh god i miss those days.

Well you know what they say. You're not hardcore unless you live hardcore and the legend of the rent was way hardcore.

I am not hardcore. I cannot be. I'm straightedge.

I guess I just don't see a way that they could avoid doing that and making the expansion still interesting. I was a new raider (just started raiding in December) and was disappointed to see all my purples get swapped out for quest rewards - but then again, it put us back into leveling mode and I've enjoyed it so far.
