Dell is already accepting orders and the first service pack is announced for June-July. Why don't they fix the bugs instead of waiting?

Like all Microsoft releases, they need to rush it out and make people pay for security... this is how the 'ecosystem' works.

2014 is going to be a good year. More content, more streamlining. Be a part of history!

Yes... it is very easy to see today how fear is the best selling point for virtually everything. I don't think it would work in porn though. Good thing sex sells.

N E ways... I know I am supposed to hate Vista, and I do... but did you guys check out that sideshow feature it released with? Pretty Cool

I know it has some good features but I am hearing complaints about installation and more.

It has peaked my interest, though I'm going to take a wait and see approach first.

Michael: Jodie, how's my schedule look for today?
Jodie: You've got a conference and dinner party at the Japanese Embassy regarding wildlife protection.
Michael: Oh, yeah...sorry, but I'll have to cancel that. I'm heading out to save America!

Yeah. Plus I found this little tidbit out. From the Vista EULA: "13. UPGRADES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. Upon upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software you upgraded from. After you upgrade, you may no longer use the software you upgraded from."

Standard kinda but why are they treating their old OS as a competitor? I don't think they should offer their new OS at a discounted price only to canabilize XP. With their rate of security issues, it should be full price or nothing. No half measures.

Another reason they may be doing it is to get the customer into their new DRM environment.

It's a combination of both DRM and XP issues. I feel Microsoft was well aware that they might be having problem with Vista. Going by the initial reactions it seems that an upgrade might be released sooner than expected.
