Opera Browser Old Sun Aug 20, 2006 5:01:50 PM #21660 Perm Link
Does anyone out there use Opera for windows? I've heard it's becoming increasingly popular on mobiles, and a version for the DS will be released soon. I assume that the Wii will probably use some version of Opera as well. I'm still learning to navigate a few functions, but it's pretty intuitive. A nice alternative to IE, and hopefully it has less security holes. Anyone else tried it?

I use it for testing all the time.

Opera is more standards based than even Firefox.

Opera also has a smaller memory footprint and a nicer UI (without extensions or themes). That being said, I'll take Firefox for the extensions.

The extensions for Firefox (Opera also has extensions called widgets I believe.) allow the browser to be extended...

I have some extensions for adblocking which is the primary reason I use Firefox. I can wildcard ads and block them before loading.

I also have some web developer extensions and some UI tweaks.

I've tried using Opera before. All around, it's a good browser. The only problem I had with it is that you have to pay for it to get rid of the ad banner. I really wouldn't say that it's better or worse than Firefox. I think it's just a matter of preference. Another browser to check out that I thought was pretty good is Avant.

Opera is a great browser. It fully standards compliant and comes built in with many different functions that usually would need extensions for.

It even has a BitTorrent client built in. Yes, they bundle many things with the browser and the download is still so small.

It isn't open source, but it still rocks.

I'm using Opera as I type this and it is great. I find it much better than IE or Firefox.

Opera is free. You only now pay for premium support. There is no more ad supported version.

I just installed it.
It's pretty nice.(nicer than IE, well what browser isn't?)
I don't see anything special about it to sway me from using Firefox.

Just the fact that everything is included in the package makes it great for my use.

I re-installed Opera and I've been using it for a few days. I think it's really good. Just as good as Firefox. I think I may actually like it better. It has more built in tools that Firefox would need extensions for. It also gives the appearance and has the feel of a highter quality product. I'm curious as to how Firefox 2 will compare.
